Berberis (Barberry) x ottawensis 'Superba' [32]
Fully hardy, thorny shrubs which appreciate sunny positions. They can be grown in virtually any soil type except that which is badly drained. They are a good example of a deciduous species which can be developed as topiary. This variety has small dark purple-red leaves which turn rich-orange red in the autumn. Small yellow flowers are borne late spring followed by tiny red berries.
