Cercis [59] A hardy deciduous genus which bears small, heart-shaped leaves. Cercis do best in deep, fertile, well-drained soil in a sunny, sheltered position.
C.canadensis 'Forest Pansy' [371] This is the more demure of the two species we offer and as the name implies it tolerates part-shade. It is grown principally for it's lovely deep reddish-purple foliage which looks especially attractive with light shining through it. It is not known for it's enthusiastic flowering but if you are lucky the magenta blooms will in appear late spring/early summer.
