Cedrus (Cedar)

Cedrus (Cedar) [52]
Fully hardy, handsome evergreen conifers that will grow in virtually any ordinary, well-drained soil. They make good specimens for large lawns especially in coastal areas.

C.a 'Glauca Pendula' (Weeping blue Atlas cedar) [57]
The foliage of this variant is blue-green and as the branches develop they will sweep sharply down and will eventually almost hide the main trunk.
C.a. 'Compacta' (syn.C a. 'Nana') [365]
Quite unlike it's parent, this slow growing variety takes a dense, dark green globular form. Wider than tall when young, it has the potential to become 3-4 metres wide and tall. It will tolerate occasional pruning to allow for maintaining the shape/size.
C.atlantica (Atlas cedar) [53]
Develops as a conical tree with branches which are initially ascending but as the tree matures they take on a more speading, horizontal habit. Has dark green foliage.
C.atlantica f. glauca [54]
Has similar characteristics to the species tree but doesn't grow as large and bears foliage with a glaucous hue.
C.d.'Feelin Blue' [366]
Has attractive silvery-blue foliage and can be developed in two ways. Unstaked, it's branches flatten out towards the ground and then overlap each other. Staked it will grow upright with the branches weeping at the ends.
C.d.'Pendula' [367]
A lovely, very dense, compact, slow-growing weeping tree for the smaller garden. The branches almost obscure the main trunk from view.
C.d.'Prostrata' [368]
This is a curious wide-spreading, prostrate form of weeping deodar foliage and makes an eye catching ground cover subject.
C.deodara (Deodar) [55]
A beautiful conical tree with pendulous branches and feathery grey-green foliage that has a glaucous hue.
C.libani (Cedar of Lebanon) [56]
A conical tree with distinctive, horizontal, branches and dark green foliage which is sometimes banded silver. Develops a fine architectural appearance.
