TURN YOUR IVY INTO A PEACOCK!

For immediate results use one or two long green-leaved Ivies, or start with smaller plants and watch them grow.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR POTTED IVY PEACOCK

1. Plant the ivies into a heavy 20-22cm (8-9in) clay pot.
2. Push to body section (a) down into the centre of the plan at a slight angle.
3. Put the tail section (b) over the body and press down firmly.
4. Slip the body ring (c) over the head and tie onto body section to create a rounded appearance.
5. Tie the longest ivy growths onto the tail, shorter ones up the neck and into the head (leaving beak and crest uncovered), and wrap remaining shoots around the body. Keep tying and weaving in new growth until the frame is well covered and then trim to keep in shape.

USING BOX, ROSEMARY OR LONICERA NITIDA

Tie in the main shoots and use the frame as a clipping guide. Encourage bushiness by trimming new growth.

HEDGE FINAL

Slot the frame together and strap securely onto a stake. Push the stake through the hedge and into the ground. Allow a cluster of shoots to develop above the hedge and tie in and clip as before.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR POTTED IVY CAT

1. Plan the Ivies as above.
2. Slot the two parts together and place in a centre pot.
3. Tie and weave ivies as for Peacock.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR SIMPLE BIRD

1. Plant the ivies as for Peacock.
2. Push the body section (a) down into the centre of the plant. Slip the body ring (b) over the head and tie into body section to create a rounded appearance.
3. Tie and weave ivies as for Peacock.
