This very hardy deciduous shrub does best in open or partly shaded positions in soil which is not too dry or of a shallow, chalky nature. Clusters of white flowers, tinged pink, are borne in early summer and are attractive even when faded. The bark peels in many layers and the foliage goes through seasonal changes. It is good subject for informal gardens.
P. "Darts Gold" develops a compact habit and the foliage emerges golden-yellow but later turns to a rich green. A more vigorous variant which is better suited to full sun situations is P.o.'Angel Gold'.
